Michigan St received a verbal commitment from star DE prospect William Gholston (cousin of NY Jets Vernon Gholston) yesterday. The announcement is a major coup for the Spartans program as Gholston is listed among most pre-season player rankings as one of the top defensive players. By staying in state the Detroit/Southeastern star has apparently spurned programs like Ohio State, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Iowa. ESPN’s Craig Haubert points out that landing a Top 150 prospect like Gholston may have a domino-effect for other top recruits still undecided.
